We’ve just added a new practical certification to the MITC family, and it’s one we’re particularly proud of.

Accessibility is a fundamental part of how we build for the web today. It’s about making sure that what we create actually works for everyone, regardless of how they navigate the digital world. It's a key element in modern website and application design. It involves monitoring users and their diverse needs.

What is the MITC Accessibility certification?

The MITC Accessibility Audit is a practical exam designed to test your ability to actually find and fix accessibility barriers. You’ll be tasked with analyzing a web application through the lens of WCAG 2.1 (Levels A and AA).

This is for you if you are:

  • a tester or QA specialist looking to broaden your toolkit.
  • a developer or designer who wants to build more inclusive products.
  • an accessibility coordinator needing to validate your hands-on skills.
  • anyone in the dev cycle who believes the web should be open to all.
  • and anyone involved in the software development process.
Key certification areas

The certification focuses on four fundamental accessibility principles:

  • perceivability - can content be perceived by all users?
  • operability - is the interface fully usable?
  • understandability - are the information and operations clear?
  • robustness - oes the solution work stably in different environments?
Certification process

During the exam, candidates will access a web application that contains intentionally introduced accessibility issues. Tasks include:

  • verifying compliance with key Level A and AA criteria
  • identifying and analyzing accessibility problems
  • preparing a report indicating violated WCAG criteria
Tools and techniques

The certification covers practical learning of:

  • official WCAG checklists
  • accessibility testing tools (WAVE, Ax, Lighthouse)
  • browser developer tools
  • assistive technologies
Professional development

The certification opens up a world of professional growth for IT specialists by validating practical accessibility testing and analysis skills. It increases market value and positions individuals as experts in digital accessibility. Additionally, it serves as a stepping stone to advanced certifications, fostering continuous professional development.

Social impact
