The first accredited course preparing testers for the MITC Exam
Michał Putowski of JakZostacTesterem.pl has released a new, MITC-accredited version of his online course for software testers. It's the first course on the market that MITC has formally reviewed and approved as matching the scope of the MITC Software Testing Level 01 exam.
MITC checked the curriculum against the exam
Michal has been writing about software testing for years, and he's covered the MITC exam before – he sat it himself two years ago and wrote up his experience on the blog. Accreditation means MITC compared his course curriculum against the exam's scope and confirmed it lines up. That’s a meaningful distinction: the material maps onto exam-relevant topics directly.
The accredited version builds on the existing standard course and adds roughly 25% new content, concentrated in the areas the MITC exam actually tests: test data, basic security and usability testing, and coverage metrics. The course wraps up with an internal assessment – 24 questions covering the full material, with an 80% pass threshold.
What's inside
The program runs across seven modules: an introduction, a section on effective learning techniques, theoretical foundations covering the software development lifecycle, and then the practical core: defect reporting, defect lifecycle, test planning and documentation. Students get narrated video lessons with subtitles, downloadable materials they keep permanently, and a full year of platform access.
The accredited version costs 529 PLN gross, compared to the standard course starting at 397 PLN (which comes with shorter, 30- or 90-day video access). Anyone who already bought the course can upgrade for the difference – anywhere from 1 to 79 PLN depending on which package they originally purchased.
One thing Putowski is careful to spell out: finishing the course gets you a certificate of completion, not the MITC certificate itself. The actual MITC certification only comes from MITC, after passing the exam directly on mitc.center – that's a separate purchase and a separate process.
A different kind of exam, at a different price
The MITC Software Testing Level 01 exam works differently from most testing certifications on the market. It runs 60 minutes, covers 12 closed and open-ended questions built around a single testing scenario, and can be taken remotely, with no proctoring and no need to book a slot in advance. Instead of testing theory, it evaluates how a candidate actually designs tests, selects test data, and identifies and reports defects – in an environment meant to resemble a real project.
The exam itself costs around 50 EUR, a fraction of what more theory-focused, accredited certification paths typically run – where course plus exam can add up to 3,000–4,000 PLN. That combination – a low barrier to entry and a hands-on exam format – is what makes the arrival of the first accredited prep course worth noting. Until now, candidates were largely left to prepare on their own, piecing together scattered materials.
